“Wildest Dreams” - Majid Jordan
I love Majid Jordan
Majid Jordan is my all time favorite R&B Duo. The name “Majid Jordan” comes from the first names of the duo, singer Majid Al Maskati and producer Jordan Ullman. They started off by posting music on SoundCloud, and then eventually they were picked up by Drake’s Label OVO Sound who has signed other really great artists such as DVSN and Roy Woods.
The first time I came across Majid Jordan was back in 2014 when they released “Her.” I was in my dorm room listening to the new music I could find on the daily. I was instantly in love and I have followed them ever since. I’ve seen them live in concert four times now, twice in 2016, and twice in 2018. I will be seeing them on November 11th for their “Wildest Dreams” tour in San Francisco (this will be my first concert back since COVID).
Majid Jordan disappeared from social media for a while, and then earlier this summer, they returned to let us know that they were finishing up their album, and that they were releasing a new single “Waves of Blue.” On October 22nd, they released their third studio album “Wildest Dreams.” This album has been 4 years in the making, since their last album “The Space Between” released in 2017. I have been waiting for a very long time, but on Thursday October 21st, at 9pm (PST), I immediately opened up my Apple Music to find the album. I played the first song “Dancing on a Dream" featuring Swae Lee, and instantly I lit up, started smiling and was getting teary eyed because this was four years in the making, and SO worth the wait!
This album left me really uplifted and overall I found it to be quite inspirational when it came to the choruses of the songs. There were a lot of really great songs, but if I were to name my top three, it would have to be “Waves of Blue”, “Life Worth Living” and “Wildest Dreams.” I found them to be the most standout from the 11 songs. Some runner ups are “Dancing on a Dream” and of course “Stars Align” featuring Drake (since it’s Drakes Label anyways). If I had to name my least favorite on the album, it would have to be “Sway” featuring Diddy. The song itself is actually really good, but I don’t think the song needed a feature, it would have been fine without Diddy talking. Lastly, I would like to give the album a numerical rating, and that would be an 8 out of 10. I think this album is a step above “The Space Between” but it does not top the “Majid Jordan” album from 2016, which is still my favorite album from them.
Please let me know how you liked the album, what were your favorite songs, etc.
